Collections Are Your Answer for Pesky Bare Walls: Use Several Small Accents to Make a Big Impact in a Large Space

Large walls can pose an interesting decorating challenge—it’s hard to find wall décor that’s big enough to fill up the space. So often using a single large item on an expanse of bare wall makes the wall look even bigger and emptier by highlighting just how much wall isn’t decorated….

One of my favorite solutions is actually to use a collection of small items on a large wall. Three or more small-to-medium size items usually create more of an impact and visually fill up the space, leaving your room looking beautifully decorated instead of stark and bare. Here are three suggestions for different collections to solve the problem of sizeable blank walls:

Framed Wall Panels: A versatile solution for extra-large walls, framed art of all types can be grouped in myriad ways to visually fill the wall. Family pictures are always a favorite, but I particularly like this set of nine embossed leaf panels. With muted tones and botanical motifs, these panels coordinate with any décor, and with nine different designs, this set can be arranged in an infinite number of ways.

Fish-Shaped Wall Décor: Playful and charming, a small school of fish adds a lot of splash to any large wall. With rustic shell and woven wood details, these three fish accents add interest with unusual texture as well as their whimsical shape. You can achieve the same fun impact with any themed or creatively shaped wall décor—think palm trees, stars or even words!

Wall Crosses: A set of four capiz shell wall crosses makes an elegant statement in any living room, dining room, or even hallway. A beautiful way to share your faith with visiting friends and family, a collection of crosses can be grouped randomly or horizontally for a great space-filling effect.
